Is there a machine that can clean clothes w/o sticking it in the washer?

For clothes that you would dry clean anyway and for any clothes you don't want to stick in the washer, you could use Dryel. It's a kit that comes with a bag you put your clothes in as well as a solution for stains and a damp cloth that provides the scent and the softness.

You may have seen these in the stores.

You put your clothes in the bag along with the cloth (follow the instructions for getting the stains out if necessary) seal the bag and throw it in the drier. Set your drier and you're done! They smell soooooo good when they come out and they're really soft.Is there a machine that can clean clothes w/o sticking it in the washer?
wear them in the shower

Porsche 944 washer fluid tank?

Has anyone ever removed the washer fluid tank of a 1985.5 Porsche 944? I pulled it out from the bottom but it kicked my rear? I am curious.Porsche 944 washer fluid tank?
Kicked my butt too...finally had to get a mechanic to do it. Doesn't make sense that it's so hard removing.

My dish washer is leaving food on my dishes, what is this?

after looking for the obvious

you just may need to call a servicemanMy dish washer is leaving food on my dishes, what is this?
Try a different soap...My dish washer is leaving food on my dishes, what is this?
I always use the pre wash function then remove and wash the filter before each wash. You'd be amazed at what comes off!

Make sure the dishes are not touching or overlapping each other and obstructing the water flow. Make sure that you use the right programme for the dishes- its no good putting pans in on a light/delicate cycle.
idk...try electrosol or wutever...
you could empty the filter in the bottom it will normally pull out or unscrew

you could also try to take the rotating sprayer arms off they normally unscrew in the centre, they sometimes get full of food scraps and block the spray nozzles.

tip you should rinse plates under tap before putting in dishwasher, it will work a lot better.
maybe the dishwasher is too full...try rearranging the dishes next time or even rinsing them off a lil

  • Car Alarm keychain/transmitter was washed in the washer?

is it pretty much ruined or can i blow dry the interiors? also i cant seem to open it up... TRW is the company

    FCC ID: GQ43VTAT

thanksCar Alarm keychain/transmitter was washed in the washer?
It might be fine after it drys, it should pop open with a flat head screw driver... after the washing you probably have to replace the battery in it.Car Alarm keychain/transmitter was washed in the washer?
Remove the battery %26amp; leave the cover off. Place it in area so your A/C will be blowing on it to dry it out. Reinstall the battery after a couple of days %26amp; try it.
The internals could be protected (everything is gasketed but only for light rain) but I sincerely doubt it...turn it upside down so the buttons are facing down and leave it on a carpet or towel and leave it for at least an hour and try it. If it doesn't work it's probably done for good.
Mine was washed and all I did was take it apart and let it dry. Once it was dry, a day or so to be sure it was dry, I put it back together using the same battery and it worked fine. I had to remove 1 screw and then used a screwdriver to pop it open. i hope this helps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Probably be ok after you take battery out and let dry. Pop it open wth small screwdriver

Will my Washer Machine be ok?

my five year old has decided to try and do the laundry... he dumped a full bottle of concentrated 96 loads worth of liquid detergent in my machine...

I'm running it through a quick wash cycle... any suggestions? Will my Washer Machine be ok?
I would run a vinegar and water rinse to remove the excess soap from the washer it should be ok.Will my Washer Machine be ok?
Vinegar will cut the suds. Pour a cup of white vinegar and run through a small load short cycle, OR just keep washing clothes without adding any more detergent.
You're likely to get suds all over the place. Try moving it to a drain cycle asap. Fill up and drain again until it is all gone.
Add fabric softener to the soap to cut the soap suds down,
be prepaird to clean the suds run threw several times

Portable Clothes Washer? Has anyone used a Haier portable washing machine? Does it work well?

I do not have an option for a washer with permanent fixtures in my apartment. It just can't be done. Is this portable one decent? Any problems?

Portable Clothes Washer? Has anyone used a Haier portable washing machine? Does it work well?
We had a Haier in our old apartment because the place was old and did not have a washer/dryer. I'm assuming this is the one you hook up to the sink? That's what we did anyways. We used it for about a year before moving. They WORK, but it wasn't fun. Some problems I had:

    - Instructions were poor/confusing and had a difficult time understanding how the thing worked.

    - Adapter wouldn't fit onto faucet, tried to contact Haier. Support was incredibly poor/unresponsive, had to go to Ace Hardware and purchase appropriate adapters after asking the people there.

    - Water would sometimes leak from hoses due to adapters, the ';expelling'; hose fell off the sink once or twice and spilled dirty water all over the floor.

    - Handles only a small load, making laundry take a lot longer than you're used to.

    - Large/heavy items (blankets, comforters, coats, big pairs of jeans) won't work in the washer. They generate too much force when spinning and the washer shuts down or else gets stuck repeating the rinse cycle again and again until you abort the wash.

    - No dryer means that you have to hang your clothes out to dry. This takes a lot longer than one would expect (we used a fan to help speed up the process) and makes your clothes kind of stiff.

We survived with it, but it was quite a hassle (it was our only option, and it IS cheaper than paying for a laundry service). We sold it to the new tenants who moved in after us. They had a cat. The cat chewed through one of the hoses though, so they couldn't use it anymore without a replacement hose. They eventually opted for a laundry service instead.

That was our experience. Be forewarned.Portable Clothes Washer? Has anyone used a Haier portable washing machine? Does it work well?
i have a set of ';apartment'; sized washer and dryer. they happen to be whirlpool, i am not familiar with the brand you mentioned. mine work great, they just do smaller loads. the washer hooks up to the kitchen sink (and drains into it) and the dryer is 110 so it plugs into any outlet.
my sister has an apartment and she has a ';real'; washer so sorry but im not sure if they work well or not.

    Front loading washer and dryer?

Gas vs Electric? what models do your reccomend for around $1200-$1400 for both washer and dryer?Front loading washer and dryer?
Both washer %26amp; dryer need to be electric for the motors that turn the drums. But beyond that, no heat is needed in washers as they use the water from a separate water heater for hot water. So the washer will only be electric.

For dryers, a lot of people prefer gas as it's more efficient. Electric heating elements take time to warm up, as well as time to cool back down. A lot of waste. Plus, electric heating is more expensive than gas heating. But it also requires careful installation to ensure that there are no dangerous leaks, whereas electric simply plugs into a socket.

Both Maytag and GE front loaders are going to cost you a lot more than $1400 for the pair. So will Kenmore from Sears. You might be able to find Hotpoint (still a GE brand) closer to your price range. Or perhaps Frigidaire, which is not a bad choice.

My Kenmore washer won't drain the Water???

My Kenmore washer won't drain the water half of the times but when it does drain the water out then it won't spin the water out of the clothes?

I checked the pipes and they are not clogged!!!

It makes those ticking noises which is usually then followed by draining of water or spinning the water out of clothes but nothing happens!!!!!My Kenmore washer won't drain the Water???
The model number you listed was not a valid number. Many kenmore washers are direct drive (no belts) and the machine function depends on the direction the motor turns. In one direction the machine agitates to wash the clothes and in the other direction it pumps the water out and spins the clothes dry. One feature on all machines that would keep the the machine from pumping or spinning is the lid safety switch. When the lid is closed there is a plastic blade that pushes a switch to indicate the door is closed. If this switch is defective or not pushed the washer will not continue to function. Attached is a web site that has different machine types that you can navigate and maybe find out what is wrong with your machine. ...Good Luck...

    its the pump
Sounds like a transmission problem. I hope it is under warranty otherwise it is more cost effective to buy another one and get that one hauled off.
    call sears
You might have a sock stuck in the water pump (hey it happens)

  • Dish washer issues!!! Please help!!?

Ok for some reason the dish washer foams up and leaks foam everywhere!! and the water isn't draining!! what do I do??Dish washer issues!!! Please help!!?
i think you used the wrong kinda of soap, and in doing that the suds for some reason don't go through the pump on the dishwasher to well i would try changing the dtergent first. then if the problem with the drain still persists undo the plastic pipe coming from the dw under the sink and disconnect it from the drain line or garbage diposal to see if something is blocking it. if your kitchen sink is draining fine the clog is not in the kit drain line and somwhere i dw drain line.Dish washer issues!!! Please help!!?
There are two things that you might check. Beyond these you probably have a mechanical problem that will require a service technician.

Your best bet for solving this problem yourself is to check for clogs or blockages in the washer drain hose. In most cases this hose runs from the dishwasher to the garbage disposal or the sink drain. You can disconnect this hose and plunge it with a straightened wire coat hanger. You may find this hose is completely blocked by a collection of dishwasher debris. Plunge until clear and reattach.

You also can see if you can locate the drain inside the washer. If you can clean it and be sure it isn't clogged.

If neither of these work you may have a defective timer or drain valve solenoid.

Hopefully, it is a clogged drain hose, which you can fix.
Wrong soap. You are not the first and won't be the last. lol.

Put a cup of vegetable oil in the water. That will consume the soap and prevent the suds. Then run a drain, fill and wash, and drain.

    Good Luck.
Sounds like you have a clogged drain. The water has no where to go and foams and leaks. Undo the drain and run a pipe snake toward the sewer line in the house. Probably food stuck in it.
soap for the dishwasher is specially made just for that,,,it does not make suds.

It sounds here like you used dishwashing detergent that one uses in a sink.

    Dish washer help?

Ok so yesterday i was doing the dishes and put them all in the dishwasher. I found out i didnt have detergent so i used liquid dish soap. Bubbles were everywhere. But now the water wont drain from the bottem. I stopped the dish washer in the middle of its washing. But i waited over night for the water to drain and it didnt. help me pleasei dont want to call the repair man when its something probable super simpleDish washer help?
I have done this before. If you can handle the bubbles and the clean up of them, just turn it back on, let it run its cycle and it will be fine. You really don't need to do the extra work of dumping the water out. Just put the bubbles in the sink..... Yeah I felt like a dumb a** too! You won't keep having problems, don't worry. laugh at yourself too, it helps...I know everyone is saying it will continue, but trust me...I did itDish washer help?
Maybe theres no water going in because of the high amount of water has the overflow switch tripped. Try pouring some vinegar or alcohol in the dishwasher and starting a cycle. The vinegar will help get rid of the suds. After the suds are gone set the timer to drain and see if the water goes away. Hopefully after the water level goes down the overflow switch will close and you'll be back to normal.
It won't drain because it is stuck in its cycle. You are going to need to remove the water with a wet vac, or get on your hands and knees and scoop it out with a cup and bucket.

Because dish soap is so potent, you are going to have to run several cycles to get the bubbles to stop.
The water wont drain by itself. It gets pumped out by the dishwasher. My suggestion is to try to get as much of the water/soap out of the machine and then run a short cycle. You may have to do this many times to clear all the soap out. Good luck! Any problems you can e-mail or IM me.
Get a wet/dry vac and remove the water. Shutting it off will not allow it to drain.

The spray arm on my Bosch dish washer is not spinning can anyone help. thanks?

It could be hitting something that you are now seeing.

OR it might be calcium in your water that has collected inside the sprayer and is stopping it from moving.

I'm sure you will need to call a professional to fix it, but try running it through a cycle with a cup of vinegar poured into a water filled tub (without dishes). Slowly open the door and pour in the vinegar. If this works for you, start pouring in 1/2 cup vinegar in the last rinse cycle after the tub is filled with water each time you wash dishes. The spray arm on my Bosch dish washer is not spinning can anyone help. thanks?
I've had the same problem with a Bosch. I took the arm off (It can easily be removed) and found two grains of rice were being spun into the end hole, as soon as the arm stopped spinning due to the unbalanced water flow the rice grains dropped back into the arm and couldn't be seen in the hole. I removed the debris (shook it out hard) and the problem was resolved. Any debris inside the arm appears to have the effect of stopping the arm from spinningThe spray arm on my Bosch dish washer is not spinning can anyone help. thanks?
If the holes in it have lime scale that will stop the water as it is water pressure that makes it spin.
make sure it's not hitting anything.

My iToch went though the washer machine for 5 minutes and now will not turn on, or connect to my PC, help!!!!!?

It seems dry but it won't turn on or respond! My iToch went though the washer machine for 5 minutes and now will not turn on, or connect to my PC, help!!!!!?
well, if it was recent, remove battery if u can, put it into a bowl of warm distilled water and agitate it for 15 min.

then take it out and let it dry for a week or more somewhere warm and dry.

if it has been sitting around with soap scum on it for a while it may be totally gone.

is is also possible that turning it on while damp did more damage.

    good luck

they're would be like that in the few first day of free time. They're affraid of the owner or the new place. So, just give them time, and before you give it free time, play with your pig for a while, and then, put food out for them and let they run around. this happened to me like 5 years ago except mine got lost in the woods next to my house. so all u gotta do is put some veggies or fruit or some timothy hay if u have it (cuz they love it) at least mine does. and also if u give him like a house kinda thing in his cage put that out so then he might go in there. but whatever u do dont keep trying to get him cuz he'll just get more scared and say there longer. just give him time to smell the food and after like 15 min check on him. good luck finding him!
my sisters rat often does this, try and tempt it with its favorite treat, or get a long stick or something and gently tap its bum to see if it will come out that way. or you may just have to wait until it feels like it wants to come out, and make sure next time when you let it out that you make sure it cant go there again!

    good luck
Put a treat or a pile of food in the middle of the room or at the entrance of the washer or dryer and wait until he comes out and sneak up without scaring it and carefully pick it up.
hold its fav treat where it can see it DO NOT GIVE IT TO IT UNLESS YOU GET IT OUT!!! and you're supposed to supervise their floor time then if they go near anywhere you keep them away, or give them ina guinea pgig proffed room that has no escape route.
put some of his favorite treats in a cage that will trp him when he comes to get the treat so you won't have to wait for him to come out.
haha mines hide under the sofa when i give them free time lol. try giving it a treat. thats the only way theyll come out not by calling it sorry its not a dog.
I have a guinea pig and whenever he hides in his little house and I put carrots, lettuce and/or alfalfa grass. It always works for me.

    Hope it helps!
you need to be quiet or you could just put some carrot and until it comes out and then you can take it
have you tried bribing him with carrots or anything to get him to come out? My guinea pig would do anything for a carrot. Good luck!
well u could try puting a carrot near the entrance and wait til it comes and then u could get it
    haha, thats funny

My 91 s10 pickup wipers and washer stopped working ,,what could be wrong?

If both the wipers and washer are out, chances are it is that the fuse has blown. The same one covers both, a 25 Amp just above the turn signal flasher. If it keeps blowing, unplug the washer pump and try it again.

Let me know if the fuse is OK. I have a complete set of troubleshooting charts for the wipers on this vehicle. I downloaded them to work on a '91 S-10, but it turned out it was just the ground strap was crusty. LOLMy 91 s10 pickup wipers and washer stopped working ,,what could be wrong?
i'd take a punt at the lever or whatever you have that switches it on is busted. it's unlikely that both of them have stopped working at the same time. anyway, your best bet is to go see a mechanic (unless you want to try it out yourself, seeing as since it's a 1991 model your new car warranty should have expired). nothing against yahoo answers, but for some things it's just not your best option, because all the information we get is what you type. a mechanic can pull your car apart; we can't.My 91 s10 pickup wipers and washer stopped working ,,what could be wrong?
Don't know about the 91 S-10, but had the same problem on my 98. Look on the back firewall. That is usually where the motor is located. If like my 98, take off the cover of the motor and you will see a small printed circuit board - replace it.
I've had mine out and apart on my '95. The circuit board that's mounted in the motor housing is suseptable to moisture! They look to be a pretty poorly designed assembly. Good luck! ;-)=
My husband says for starters, to check your fuse.

    Washer or dryer?

Everytime i put a white shirt in the washing machine and then into the dryer my shirts come out with rusty spots on them. Any one have any idea what may be causing this? I'm not sure if its the washing machine or the dryer causing the problem, i just know its not on my shirts before they go in.Washer or dryer?
This may be coming from your washer or dryer. Especially if you are leaving your laundry while still wet, in them. You need to look on the insides of your machines and note if there is any rust developing on your drums, if so, you may need to remove them before continuing with your laundry or simply not leave them in so long they transfer the rust spots onto your clothing! Good luck!Washer or dryer?
Are you washing and drying with only other whites? I'd recommend taking a look at the shirts coming out of the washing machine before you put them in the dryer - then you'll know the culprit. Also, it shouldn't be happening to just whites, that's a bit odd - are you using any kind of bleach or detergent that's unusual?
If your shirts have dots about the size of the tip on a ink pin the rust is coming from the washer. on back side of the basket has rust in the spin cycle the clothes are pushed through holes of the basket and touch the rust on the other side. If the shirts have streaks its from the dryer. check your warranty some baskets have a life time fore rust
It sounds like it is in the water! Take the hose off the water connection where the washer is connected to the water source and look at the screen. You can tell if there is a lot of rust in your water, it will be clogged on that screen. From there you will need to get or clean your water softener.

Meanwhile, use Whink to remove the rust stains.
wash then in someone else machine and see what happens and check your machine for rust or run a cycle of bleach and then test again .....might be time for a new machine . also do you take your clothes out as soon as the cycle is finished and put them in he dryer or out to dry
Had the same problems but came to the conclusion that it came from the side of the washer. The holes in the side contained rust that got transferred to the clothes. There is a rust remover for washers. Oh...don't use these plastic balls in the washer they tend to force the clothes to the sides of the washer. Hope this helps.
after you are done with your loads in the washer wipe it out with 409 or something and your dryer them 3 things in there them arms or what ever they are called they might need to come out of there to be cleaned bez thats whats probably causing the spots on the clothes.

  • Washer won't stop filling?

I laid my Kenmore 90 series washer on its back to replace another part. Since then the water doesn't shut off when it's full. What did I break fixing the other part?Washer won't stop filling?
If you look where the water hose connects to the washer, that part on the washer is a valve that should open and close. It should be normally closed, so if you take it off and blow into it and air flows through, it's stuck open. Also, there should be a little metal strainer peice right at the entrance to the valve, that sometimes falls out allowing gunk to build up.

So to sum up, you probably need to replace the intake valve on your washer.Washer won't stop filling?
There is a small plastic tube that runs from the bottom of the drum up to the water level switch and this probably jiggled off when you had it on its back. As the water rises, it builds pressure in this tube and when it gets to a predetermined pressure, it will trip the water level switch from water to wash.
It's possible the water valve is bad, if the washer fills constantly. Unplugging the washer should shut off the water flow though. I would check the water level switch. The water level switch controls the water fill valve by sensing how much water pressure there is in the wash tub. It's usually operated by water pressure in a tube with air in it. When the air in the tube compresses as the wash tub fills, the pressure gets read by this device. If the tube or diaphragm has a slow leak, your washer may act oddly. An example would be that it fills and starts to agitate, fills more, goes back to agitate, and so on, leading to an overfill or overflow problem.

If the tube or diaphragm in the water level switch has a really bad leak, the water level switch won't detect any pressure whatsoever, and will not stop the water flow.

Here is a reference to check for yourself. http://www.apwagner.com/appliancerepairc鈥?/a>
it could one of this problems, water level switch is defective, water inlet valve blocked and not closing, water inlet valve stuck open, blockage in tube to water level switch, leak in water level switch hose, water level switch not vertical, also go to repair clinic.com,or to american-appliance.com
The water level switch on your control panel where you set the water level ( large, med, small).is most likely where the problem lies. First get access to the inside of your controls. You will see a clear plastic hose attached to that switch..Disconnect it and try blowing air though that hose. If it flows well try and reconnect and try it again. If it still keeps filling you will have to take that switch off and take it to an appliance dealer and get a new one. Pretty easy fix.

Washer Valve Filter needs cleaned all the time...how do I fix this?

I have a top loading washing machine with a valve filter that needs cleaned every few days (one it went two week without having to be cleaned) and I'm tired of having to get the vice grips, undo the hose and clean it and then reinstall it without it leaking (which takes several times). I am tired of this process because I am a busy individual who does do the family's laundry every week. How do I stop this?Washer Valve Filter needs cleaned all the time...how do I fix this?
A quick fix is a in line filter like people use for their RV's they have hose type connections on both inlet and outlet. Then you can think about a whole house filter which is a little more effort but well worth it.Washer Valve Filter needs cleaned all the time...how do I fix this?
Take the filter out, sediment doesn't usually stain clothes, it's usually other things in the water that do that. It may void the warranty of the washer but if it is five years old like the house, that the warranty is probably up anyways. If you are worried about sediment getting into your washer, find a whole house filter and follow the directions to install it next to your pressure tank, they are usually very easy and don't require very many (if any) special tools. Hope this helps, good luck.
take the line off and let the water run , for a couple of minutes ,replace the old valve filter put back together ,now you have a plane go for it
Ive never really heard this complaint with a washer before. What kind of material is showing up in the filter? Many city water systems will pass very small sand size pebbles through the pipes but if your finding what looks to be small rusted bits of metal could indicate internal pipe failure happening if the pipes are very old.

I have a front load washer and when i wash towels they don't smell as fresh as with a top load?

If you've changed washers, the difference you're noticing probably has more to do with the fact that you're using a different machine now than you used to be. Front loaders are good at handling large loads, and being easier to make energy and water efficient. They aren't especially known for cleaning better. Also, if the machine you're using now isn't new, it might not be working properly.

We had a high efficiency front-loader and it sucked. It took forever to run, it vibrated so much you could hear it outside, and it grew mold. And in the end it never seemed to wash the clothes all that well.I have a front load washer and when i wash towels they don't smell as fresh as with a top load?
the best way to solve this is too wash the towels right away if they sit in the hamper or the floor for a long time they will smell , add 1 cup of white vinegar to the washer for the rinse. Front loader also use less water to wash clothes, in Europe they all have these and their laundry doesn't small bad,I have a front load washer and when i wash towels they don't smell as fresh as with a top load?
Put white vinegar in the bleach dispenser,

That sour smell is the result of soap buildup. Towels are absorbent and do not rinse out well. I do this with all my laundry. It is pennies in cost and works great. Also leaves the washing machine smell free
They also recommend running your whites first with bleach on the heavy cycle to help clear out the cycles smell. Also home depot is not selling these disk you throw in and wash to clean it out every once and a while.

I bought a VR2500 power washer from Home Depot I did not get a Operating Manual nor owners manual?

It was not compeletly assembled either received only a WAND %26amp; a detergent hoseI bought a VR2500 power washer from Home Depot I did not get a Operating Manual nor owners manual?
Take it back with your receipt - they tend to be really good about that. I bought some plastic film to seal my windows over winter (that shrink film stuff) and one sheet was stuck together in the last fold, so it was half the size it should be. They let me exchange it with no trouble. I was worried they wouldn't believe me and would think I had cut the film, but they were very cool.I bought a VR2500 power washer from Home Depot I did not get a Operating Manual nor owners manual?
Common sense would tell you to take it back. They have a good return policy.

Get a new one problem solved.
You probably got a return. Someone probably previous purchased it and decided they didn't want it and didn't get all the books and parts back into the box. Bring it back for a new unopened product.

    Washer/Garbage Diposal/Dishwasher not working?!?

Our Washing Machine, Garbage Disposal, %26amp; Dishwasher is not working! They are all new/ in good shape, so it is not the machines, we tried flipping the fuse switches but that is not working!

Our Garbage Disposal %26amp; Dishwasher have stopped working before and after a day or two just started working again.

    What could it be?

    Any ideas?Washer/Garbage Diposal/Dishwasher not working?!?
check the wall outlets, if it's an older house the outlets might be a bit out of wack... Or if they are all on the same breaker it might be too much power... check the volts in the walls though make sure you've got power flowing to and from.Washer/Garbage Diposal/Dishwasher not working?!?
It sounds to me like you need to replace the breaker switch. It may be old and need replacing or it may need to be of a biger amp. Remove the switch and inspect the contacts on the bottom if they look worn or jagged replace it. Trip the main breaker, pull machine breaker from center to outside of box, to replace put contact near outside in first and push the rest of way. reset main breaker. If you rather not get in that deep call an electrician.
See if these guys can help:

    http://www.fixya.com/
Look for a GFI (ground fault interrupter) in the area. They have a red and a black button to test and reset the receptacle. These are code in areas where water is present. They look like all the rest of the electrical outlets except for the buttons inbetween the outlets.
Sounda like a short somewhere. I would call in an electrician.
Is it GFCI protected? It should be. You may have a ground fault problem at times.

You need to call an electrician.
If all of these appliances are on the same circuit, i would have to agree with the GFI suggestions and with hiring and electrician.

Are Lanlords suppossed to provide Washer/Dryer hookups?

I rent a backhouse upstairs in San Bernardino, Ca and have lived here for 3yrs, even before the owners now, moved in here. Once I had my son I asked the owners for permission to put upstairs a small washer and dryer. Since we had no hookups they use regular 120volt electricity and connect to the kitchen sink. Recently though they started stating that too much water leaks and that septic system is getting to full too fast. Eventually they told me not to wash anymore. Is that legal?... they didn't say it was for a little while or anything... just not to wash anymore period. I have a 1yr old son and this is very inconvenient. Are Lanlords suppossed to provide Washer/Dryer hookups?
It's not so much the landlord has to supply hook-ups as it a situation where no one is supposed to permanently reside in a structure that doesn't have hook-ups. I know it sounds like I'm splitting hairs, but it is not as much a landlord tenant issue enforced by the courts as it is a code enforcement issue enforced by the local building department.

Your apartment is probably not supposed to be rented out. It was probably intended to be a ';mother-in-law's'; apartment - an apartment designed to allow a family member of the owner to live semi-privately from the rest of the family. That is, if the building department knows about it at all. It may have been something the previous owners built without a permit.

If you can find another place for a comparable price, move. Otherwise, be prepared to be forced to move by the government if you seek help. Otherwise, be quiet and live with it.Are Lanlords suppossed to provide Washer/Dryer hookups?
    Hi,

Let's look at it this way. Would you want to pay for my gas if I drove 1000 miles a week. I don't think so. If they asked you to stop using the washer, it's for a good reason. They are paying for your water and they are not making enough off your unit to justify the cost. Plus they told you it was causing problems with the septic. How would you like to have to use the nearest gas station to go to the bathroom? If they told you it was causing problems, it's because it is. You should respect the Landlord wishes, or move somewhere else if you don't think it's fair. And yes, it's all legal. They told you of the problem, and you have stated that they did so here on this forum, so yes, it's legal.
I know it's difficult but if you're not happy then wait till your lease is up and move. Until then take your laundry to the laundromat. Whether that situation is or is not legal there may be extenuating circumstances now or esasorbated circumstances later which they are trying to prevent (and which they could probably take you to court on for not listening to them as well as for damages) so they have asked you nicely to halt the use because of possible or more damage and you need to comply. Stuff happens. What all does a 1 year old need as far as washing clothes anyway. If you can wash them by hand then do so. I wash clothes in my tub so I understand it's inconvenient, but you still get it done.
Landlords are not required to modify existing homes or apartments to add washer/dryer hookups. They may also restrict the usage of appliances that are not included such as portable washers and dryers. If you need an apartment with washer and dryer hookups, you will need to find another place.
It sucks that it's inconvenient, but they aren't obliged to fulfill your laundry needs. It's certainly within their rights to ask you to stop damaging their septic system, and washer/dryer hookups aren't mandatory. Perhaps you should start looking around for a new apartment, that already has them installed?
I'd wager that washer/dryers were not mentioned in your

    rental agreement, so- sorry.

Might it be possible for you to use their washer ?
Sorry, but they can do what they want with their property.

If it's not part of your lease or rental agreement, they can tell you to stop doing something on their property -- especially if it's causing damage.
the washer and dryer is a 'luxury' - i don't think that they are required to provide hookups for them. this is based on what i found when i rented, i don't know if anything has changed since then.

Let it dry out for 2 days without trying to turn it on (take out battery and back cover). attempt to turn it on, if it doesnt work you are our of luck and will have to buy a new oneCell phone went thru the washer?
my razor just went out for no reason, and someone said that it was because it was a razor. For yours, I would suggest you dry it out first, then remove the battery, replace it, turn it off an on a couple of times, and see if it works. To dry it out, take the battery out and put it in a dry place. You could blow some air on it, but don't use the hot setting on your hair dryer as it could melt it. Does it have water behind the screen? You may have to replace it. Sorry. good luck.
.it most likely wont work.It depends how wet you got it and if you cracked the screen. probably wont work. Sorry
I think you are out of luck. Normally you can't bring them back after a soaking.
leave it open for a day and wait for the phone to dry out.

Is a brass washer more suitable than steel for use as an oil pan drain plug washer?

Brass is a softer metal and is more suitable because it will ';mold'; and fit the space between the drain bolt and the oil pan better than a steel washer. If you must use something other than brass, use stainless steel as it will not rust as rapidly as plain steel, a tertiary choice would be galvanized steel. In any event if you need to use something other than brass, it should be replace asap with brass.

good luckIs a brass washer more suitable than steel for use as an oil pan drain plug washer?
Yup.Is a brass washer more suitable than steel for use as an oil pan drain plug washer?
Actually I would prefer copper to brass or steel. The copper is more malleable. This allows it to better conform to irregular surfaces that are prone to leakage.
a fiber washer is what most dealers us as a replacement
Yes, the softer brass will form to the irregular surface better than the steel. Less chance of a leak.

I am sure you know not to over tighten.
Neither is better. Both are suitable provided you put a nylon washer in front of either one. By the way where's the O.E.M. plug, its the best due to the magnet on the end of it to collect metal shards.

It does not have to be removed from the spot where it is to repair it nor does it need to be lain down.My kenmore washer is 10 yrs. old.it does not agitate or spin.i would like to repair it myself.lack of money
kenmores are usually GE or other brands, There are several websites that provide a lot of info about how to repair one yourself. Samurai repairman maybe? (fixitnow.com maybe will help) I just had a problem with mine and figured out and fixed the problem in a couple hours (faulty switch in my door). you will have to replace a part I suspect but check that site out first to see if you can figure how to do it yourself.

Not expensive if you do yourself. repairmen are expensive and most of the work is not that difficult. It is a pain, of course, but still way cheaper to do it yourself.
Sounds like a drive belt either has broken or slipped off the pulley.

Typically the belt is on the underside of the machine, would definitely pay to take a look...belts are cheap.
It is probably the rubber ';spider';. It goes between the motor coupling and the transmission coupling. They are about $6.
a 10 year old Kenmore is on its last leggs. Better to save for a new one than repair this one.

''they dont make them like they use to'' is true.
Your kenmore is a whirlpool machine. Short of the timer, just about every part is the same as one that came out of the factory today. There is no belt on this machine. Most of the answers are correct, it is probably the coupler that needs to be replaced. To check for the coupler, tilt the machine back and look for black powder or small plastic pieces on the floor. If you see these, it's definitly the coupler. In order to change this you need to remove the cabinet. Your machine has either two screws on the bottom on the control panel in front on the left and right side, or two screws on the back side of the control panel on the left and right side. They sit at an angle. Remove these screws then flip up the control panel. FYI-make sure machine is unplugged. Then you will see two large brass looking clips holding the cabinet to the back wall of the machine. Remove these clips. Next, there is a plug just under where the control pane is, there are three wires going into this plug attached to the cabinet. Unclip this plug. Now, just tilt entire cabinet forward and lift off. Your machine is now naked. At the bottom front below tub is the pump with two hoses coming out of it. On that pump are two clips, one on top of pump and on bottom of pump. remove those clips. Now the pump can be removed. There is no need to remove hoses on pump. Behind pump is the motor. Unconnect wire clip going into motor then remove the two clips holding motor. They are just like the pump clips but longer. The motor clips are probably secured with a 1/4 or 5/16 bolt. Now just lift off motor. Now you will see the coupler. The coupler is a three piece part. Two plastic prongs and a rubber disc. One plastic piece sits on the motor and the other plastic piece sits on the transmission. Any one of these pieces could be bad. The coupler is sold as a kit, so replace all three pieces. Install new coupler and assemble everything in reverse order. If you have done it before 15 to 20 minutes, first time ???

I have a craftsmen gas pressure washer, it's about 1 year old and it hasn't been started in about 3 months, I tried to use it today but about 45 seconds of running it shuts off, I prime it again, it starts and then turns off in about 45 seconds, what is the problem?Pressure washer problem?
Sounds like you are not getting fuel through. it's just running on the prime. if an engine sits for a while the fuel can gum up. Usually it takes more than three months, but maybe the same fuel was in there from the previous use. anyway, clean the carburetor and you should be back in business. In the future put Sta-Bil in the gas if you are not going to run it for awhile.Pressure washer problem?
Probably a combination of stale gasoline and a fouled spark plug. Try fresh gas and clean the spark plug.

Pressure washer will not hold pressure

When dealing with a ';Pressure'; problem always start from the source.

Then by process of eleimation, find out what is wrong.

First check the water flow/pressure from the inlet...insure the filter is not clogged.

Next check the pump....remove the hose from the pressure washer, turn on the water source and then turn on the pump. There should be a marked difference in the flow.

Keep checking...Could be a few things.

    Pressure Regulator Bad

    Temperature check valve bad

    Internal check valves stuck/bad

Generally if it is not ';Holding'; pressure while gun is in the off postion, water is bypassing somewhere.Pressure washer will not hold pressure
You don't say what water pressure. If you are referring to the pressure coming into your house, you may have internally corroded pipes, or a pressure regulator that needs adjusting.Pressure washer will not hold pressure

The purpose of the rice remedy is to draw moisture out of the crevices of a recently-submerged device. Old washer and dryers?

I have two old washer and dryers. They work and are hooked up, but the insides are very dirty what can/should I use that will not be harmful to clothes when I finally use them?Old washer and dryers?
Run a cycle with just bleach in there.

As far as the dryer, just use good old elbow grease and wipe it out and clean it out with Pin Sol or Grease Lightning and make sure you remove all the residue when wiping it out.

    :-)Old washer and dryers?
Don't know what you mean by dirty since there are all different kinds of that. You should be able to just clean them up with any type of household cleaners, though, and as long as you thoroughly rinse them off afterwards with clean water, then your clothes should be fine. If the washer had been used before, though, then beware that the rubber rings in it might not last very long. Them having been wet from prior use and then left dry for so long can cause them to crack when used again.
I heard that you can run a cycle with dishwasher soap through them to clean then and then a cycle with just bleach added to the water. The dishwasher soap helps break up the crud and the bleach kills the germs. When finished with the dishwasher soap and bleach you are supposed to run it a 3rd time with no soap or anything.
I actually purchased a older Washer that needed to be cleaned before I could use it. What I did was put about 1 cup of Javex and filled the washer and let it go through the cycle ';WITH NO CLOTHES'; and it worked very well....Try this!!!! :)
I called Whirlpool once to ask about cleaning my washer really well inside. She told me to fill the washer to the top, add some bleach, then add one more bucket of hot water, to actually fill the tub up to under the rim. Run it though, and through the rinse cycle.
For the washer, try running them without a load (or with an old towel or two). For the dryer, you'd have to use a general purpose cleanser and then wipe several times with plain water to get the residue off.
For the washer, throw some old rags and a bunch of bleach into a hot cycle and make sure the water fills up to the top. This kills all the stinky stuff that accumulates.

before you wash clothes in the washers, use bleach and run the washer like a normal load, minus the clothes.
Honestly, you can use literally anything you want as LONG AS, you clean it uup with water afterwards like a final rinse, etc.
    Water, Lemon, Baking Soda, Vinegar.
They should have stuff to clean things like that at walmart? But i'd just run a load with nothing in it with baking soda....
A friend of mine used a rust remover. Be sure to run through a cycle before using.
Tang.....You won't believe how well it cleans....Imagine what it does to your insides....
    buy some new ones

My washer wont drain or spin?

sometimes it drains spins and sometimes it doesnt. when it doesnt ill mess with the load a bit or restart it then it works, but its getting worse and now ive ran it 3 or 4 times and its still full of water after completing the cycle.

any ideas on whats wrong, how i can fix it, or how much it would cost?

thanks! My washer wont drain or spin?
    Star's got the right idea.

Incidently, you didn't specify your make and model of washer. I'm going to assume that its either a Kenmore or a Whirlpool as that is a classic lid switch scenario for a Kenmore/Whirlpool. Now.. interestingly, you said sometimes.. and messing with the load helps, but its getting worse.

It will fill, and agitate but will not drain or spin is by default a bad lid switch on those washers. BUT, when a switch goes bad, its bad, there is no sometimes. I'm going to go out on a limb and say the switch is loose so is not always making contact and when you open the lid to redistribute the load, and then close the lid, you happen to make the switch make contact.

On the lid, is a plastic prong that engages the lid switch. Make sure its not bent or broken. Where it goes into the top of the machine, there should be two screws. See if you can tighten them. If that doesn't work you'll need to replace the switch, but in the interim, you can try to use a pencil or pen to engage the switch. My washer wont drain or spin?
Will the timer make it to the end of a complete cycle when you're washing a load of clothes? If so then fill it up with water without any clothes in it to a small load level, after it fills put it on the spin cycle manually and see if it drains all the water out and spins now. If the answer is yes to both questions, then you may have to try much lighter loads until you get a service guy's diagnostic. Cause if there's whole bunch of water left after the full loads, but not any left after that test, then it doesnt look good as for costs of repairs. You can buy a new whirlpool (top loader)(stay away from the front loaders) for not that much considering costs of repairs; Whirlpool makes a real good washer; Thats what I would do. good luck
I don't know who's right here, but I want you to check on this...

You have to pull your washer out where you can remove the access panel.

Then find a crazy looking thing that pumps the water out of the tub and into the hose that goes to your plumbing.

Sometimes the actual pump gets full of debris from things people have left in their pockets.

This happened to me. I took out the pump and emptied it. It was chuck full of pennies, nickels, washers, keys, and rocks. They were all ground down like they'd been in a rock tumbler.

Then I put it back on, and the problem was solved.

Maybe that's what your problem is. %26gt;???
its the timer switch. find the make and model, go to:

    http://www.partselect.com/

    and find the part.

if its a brand from sears, call sears parts, they have every part.

then get the guy to fix it. itll cost a lot less
Go with phillip's idea it could be the temp switch on the motor or the motor it self. Need to know the make of the machine to have a better idea
Probably your switch, need a repairman for that.Call a shop and ask them.Good luck.

How hard is to replace a thrust washer?

on a 440T4 transmissionHow hard is to replace a thrust washer?
this part is hard to get to . you ll have to disassemble the trans to get to it. if you ve never worked on a tranny before , i d suggest not even attempting to do it. i d take it to a qaulified technician. How hard is to replace a thrust washer?
    Drop the crank.
Which one? There are two in the 440T4. One is at the very bottom of the case under the final drive, the other is on the top of the input housing under the input housing thrust bearing
It requires disassembling the trans partially ,and this requires someone with trans experience
if u mean throw out bearing..u have to remove tranny..thats the hard part.

You probably have a broken motor coupler. Not that difficult to repair if you are a handy type person.

Audi A4 Reset Indicator Light for Washer Fluid

The washer fluid on my 2001 A4 has a leak in the system. It still holds plenty of washer fluid however, so I just want to know if there is a way to turn off the annoying light that displays in the screen between the spedometer and odometer. Thank you!Audi A4 Reset Indicator Light for Washer Fluid
You can short the fluid sensor by pulling the wiring harness connector off of the sensor and run a short wire between the two female wire leads in the harness connectors

The sensor can be accessed by removing the driver side wheel and fender liner; the fluid level sensor is about 2/3 down the reservoir.

FWIW, what is leaking is the housing of the washer pump; on 2000 and 2001 A4s, cracked pump housings are fairly common. You can order a new washer pump from the dealer (costly) or from any reputable on line parts store (bimmerparts.com) ... simply pop the old one out and pop in the new pump (and O-ring).Audi A4 Reset Indicator Light for Washer Fluid
I think you cam jumper the two connections on the washer fluid reservoir together. It's a pretty simple circuit. I can tell you though that the crack in that thing will get longer over time and will need to be replaced. No point in hurrying though. I think they're like $500 replaced at the dealer. Something outrageous like that.

I washed a pen in my washer and dryed the pen too now \he dryer has penstains how can i get them out?

It may not. Until you know the ink is out, don't dry it in the dryer again. Try alcohol or hairspray on the stain. Try Zout on the opposite side of the stain. You want to push the stain out of the fabric, the way in came in. Amway makes a product called LOC, Liquid Organic Cleaner. You could try Greased Lightening. You may have to try all of these before throwing the item away. The strange thing is, one of these may work on one stain but not on another. Water level in my front loading washer is near zero!!! is this common??

MY FIRST FRONT LOADER, AND I AM DISAPPOINTED WITH THE AMOUNT OF WATER IN THE TUB. THERE IS ALSO NO CONTROL FOR WATER LEVELS. IT IS AUTOMATIC. THE CLOTHES GET WET, BUT THERE IS NO ADDITIONAL WATER IN THE MACHINE. LOWES AND FRIGIDAIRE ARE TELLING ME THAT THIS IS THE WAY IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE. I DID A LOAD OF TOWELS WITH AN EXTRA RINSE, AND AFTER DRYING, PUT A TOWEL IN THE SINK AND ADDED WATER, AND HAD SUDS COME OFF THE TOWEL. I AM USING 1/2 THE ';HE'; SOAP IT SAID TO USE,

SO THAT IS NOT THE PROBLEM.

SO, MY QUESTION IS THIS: IS THIS THE WAY YOUR MACHINE IS, OR DO I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH MINE??

DO YOU THINK YOUR CLOTHES ARE GETTING CLEAN?

WHEN THE WATER ENTERS THE MACHINE, IT IS ONLY FOR ABOUT 8-10 SECONDS, AND THEN IT STOPS. THAT IS ALL THE WATER I GET!!!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!!!!!!!!!!Water level in my front loading washer is near zero!!! is this common??
Front-loaders are energy and water efficient. And they're right, there are no controls for water level. The machine goes by the weight of the clothes. I have one and it uses very little water. Yes, my clothes get clean. However, my water runs several times for about ten seconds. You need to call the manufacturer. I know this is frustrating, but it sounds like a new machine and should still be under warranty. Good luck. I hate to not be able to use my machine because it's not working right.Water level in my front loading washer is near zero!!! is this common??
Try the manufacturer. You should be able to see some water in there. If you overfill with clothes you will not see water either. Front loaders are meant to use less water and soap. If you have time fill and then the pressure to the machine is low you would have a problem too. Ask to have a company rep come out to your home. I repaired appliances and on occasion if we got someone we needed to give a little extra care to we would ask a rep to stop by. They also know about some of the little idiosyncrasies of some of the machines.
Sounds normal, mine does the same....if you have very soft water you may only need about 1/4 the detergent. The installer told me ..if you see suds in the door window during the wash cycle... you are using too much. keep cutting back on the soap....if it is still in warranty and you are not satisfied make Frigidare give you a service call but I think you will like it soon. We have had ours 2 years and my husband has a really dirty job but his clothes are cleaner and our water bill has gone down. Also, most towels do better with soap only every other wash with a hot water wash in between....think about it...most bath towels are only used AFTER you have washed... I know we have an obssesion in this country about dirt but it really isn't necessary for bath towels, hand towels, maybe...washclothes, yes.
    have you called the manufacturer?

that would be a good place to start

    Washer and Dryer? (technical question)?

    Helloo~

I am renting a house on my own with my bf and neither of us have lived alone before so in all fairness...when it comes to technical things, we're noobs :/

Anyways, this place we're renting its a huge house and its very old and the person before us had a washer and dryer. The Dryer was down in the basement connected directly through the fuse box and the washer was upstairs in the kitchen (odd I know) She moved out and we moved in. The washer and dryer didn't work... and we had problems with the electrcity shutting off randomly...so we had a breaker box put in.

What I need to know is, now that the old fuse box is out, what would I need to look for in order to know if I can have a washer and dryer in my house? My mom tells me to look for ';the box'; for my dryer to connect to, but I have no clue what shes talking about...

Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)Washer and Dryer? (technical question)?
I hope that you did not pay for the breaker box. That is something the landlord should pay for.

The best advice is to find someone who knows what they are doing to look things over. If you don't know anyone, perhaps hire a ';handyman'; for an hour or two. I say this because there are several things to look for. My goal for the handyman is more to evaluate the situation and advise you than anything else.

Did you inherit the washer and dryer with the house? If so, they should have worked. It remains to be seen if they don't work if it is worth fixing them or gettting another set. Is that your responsibility or the landlord's? It just depends on your arrangement with the landlord.

Obviously it would be better to have the washer in the basement with the dryer. Where ever it is, there must be an adequate electrical circuit for it. There also must be an appropriate hot and cold water supply and a drain. My biggest concern is the drain.

The dryer might need 220v or it might run on gas. Someone needs to determine that. If gas, it also needs 115v electric. There must be a proper air outlet for the dryer, going to the outside of the house.

I suggested the handyman because he/she can check all these things for you. They should be able to advice you what is needed. They might be able to do the work, or at least some of it. This is something that I have done many times. It is not as unusual of a request as you might think.

If too much needs to be done, it could cost several hundred dollars. Again, the landlord should pay for it because it is necessary for ANYONE living there. If it was just because of you, it might be appropriate for you to pay, but that is not the case.

While this person is there, they can also look at the weatherstripping, window and door fit, locks, vent pipes, chimney, and for other things that might help you reduce operating costs. It should be well worth the cost just for the peace of mind.

When I was young, I lived in a big, old farm house for a few months. There were a lot of things that we could have done to make it better, but we didn't know what we were doing.

P.S. the word ';inherited,'; in this case includes ones there were just left there. It does not mean like from a deceased relative. It is an figure of speech, not literal :-)

Glad you did not pay for the box, that is good. The washer and dryer may be broken, but may not be. The old tenant could have just thought they were not worth taking. They also could have been using better ones that they took with them when they left. See if the landlord knows.

Look to see if there is a gas hookup near where the dryer goes. If there is, the electrician and/or landlord might have not wanted to pay for the electric hookup, especially if they knew the dryer was broken. If so, perhaps you should get a gas dryer? Unless the old one works and the landlord will pay for the new outlet.

Gas costs less to operate, a lot less. It partly depends on how long you will be there. I rented a big old house one time. Left after three months because the heating bill was twice as much as my car payment. Also, the landlord refused to fix even the things that were broken when we moved in.Washer and Dryer? (technical question)?
This is not something you should be doing on your own.

If you are renting this house, your landlord should be taking care of these issues.
You need to see if there is a 220 plug in ......if not you have to have a 220 plug put in (hooked up or installed ) to use a dryer....wiring straight to the box like they had it is dangerous and a fire hazard.
talk to your land loard and find out who the electrician was, make sure that the work was up to code before you plug anything in and you start something that can not be reversed, if theres a receptical for the dryer, ask him to show you where it is, and how to use it properly. make sure that the exhaust lines from the dryer to the outside are clear and clean and that there is no lint build up in there. pretty much the same thing for the washer, in that it should be on its own circuit and all of the water lines are routed to and from the unit they dont chafe the walls and or faucets and drains

I think the belt is gone on my top load washer how do i open washer to see?

It really depends on the brand. Maytags have front access, just remove two screws on the bottom of the front panel, then slide down.

Most washers, after being drained, can be set on their side and accessed through the bottom.

If you own a Whirlpool, Inglis, Estate, Roper or Kitchenaid, there is no belt, they are direct-drive. A new transmission is required.

I don't know about the Kenmore 70 specifically, but mine used to get stuck and I had to reach in the back and move those two levers that let the washer shift from one mode to another. They are fairly large and slide horizontally.

If they are stuck you may have to push or pull fairly hard.My Kenmore 70 series washer seems to be stuck in wash mode.... it wont rinse, drain, or spin. Help!?
It could be your dial switch, or it could be your washer's transmission, which switches it from one setting to another, to be sure you need to get someone to check it out. Don't try to switch the settings manually you could really make matters worse, you should call a washer repairman, if it's still under warranty it won't cost to get it fixed.
More than likely your lid switch is broken. It is the most common problem. There is a safety feature built in that will not allow the unit to go into the rinse/spin without the lid being shut. If the lid switch is broken the unit does not know the lid is shut. go to www.searspartsdirect.com look up the lid switch part number and call round to your local appliance parts store. Should not cost more than about 40 bucks. Easy Easy fix.
I'm a little confused. What happens if you simply start the wash cycle? Does it seem to work normally but just not advance to rinse, spin, etc. If so, it could simply be a clogged drain hose or filter at the end of it.

If the tub doesn't empty completely after the wash cycle before it ';times out'; it may not allow the rinse cycle to begin, etc.

The other answers sound very good but, I look for the simple things first.
Alle the previous ideas are good when you figure out whats wrong and or need a part i suggest www.appliancepartssolutions.com

    Washer & Dryer!!!?

Hi everyone...Could anybody please tell me can I hook-up a washer-dryer in my apartment or does it need all the plumbing work??? Thanks in advance...Washer %26amp; Dryer!!!?
There are apartment size washers and dryers available in North America. (don't know where you are from). Sears puts out the ';Lady Kenmore'; line which is built by Whirlpool. The washer hooks up to your sink like a portable dishwasher and the dryer operates on 120 volts rather than 240V. They work pretty well. In fact, Elton John has a set that he takes with him on tours. ( I know, I fixed them for his wardrobe manager a few years back when he was in our city)Washer %26amp; Dryer!!!?
You probably need the plumbing . . .

. . . but there are ways around it. Actually hooking up the dryer is far more problematic than the washer.

please feel free to contact me for further info
Unless your apartment has a washer/dryer hook up you cant use them.

You can get a portable washing machine that hooks up to your sink faucet in the kitchen, and then air dry your clothes.
    Use a stack-able ELECTRIC unit.

Keep wheels on the washer to push near kitchen/bath sink.

There are dryer vents avail at home depot/Lowe's that include a small bucket you will need to fill w/H2O every so often to collect the lint.

You can purchase special sink adapters at any hardware store.

    good luck.
Are u serious?....You have to have hot/cold hook ups and a drain for the washer. The dryer has to have a vent hook up, electricity and if gas...a gas line connection.

    Washer problems?

i have a top load roper washing machine, when the spin cycle comes on it does not spin abd all of my clothes are soaked. Can someone tell me what is wrong and how to fix it.Washer problems?
Here's one other relatively simple thing to try before calling a repairman.

Many washers have a safety switch that prevents them from going into ';hyper-spin'; with the door open. Sometimes, the switch gets busted or stuck so it thinks the door is open even thought it isn't. Look around the recess, where the lid closes, for a small hole, if there is one, look on the corresponding part of the lid for a plastic nubbin that is supposed to go into the hole when the door is closed, and see if it is busted off. Some machines have a switch at the hinge side of the door that senses when the door is closed, this could be out of adjustment.

Added: From your description, I am assuming the agitate cycle is working normally. If the agitate cycle isn't working either and, when it's in the agitate or spin cycle you hear a motor running without anything happening in the machine, see the repair given by Sean below. For some machines, if the safety switch is broken, it will neither agitate nor spin, but if this is the case, you won't hear the motor running.Washer problems?
Several things could be wrong, the drive belt may be lose or broken, the transmission gears may be stripped, the sending unit may be inoperative, etc. Thats why there are trained repairmen who can make that determination and repair.
I have had very good luck with this troubleshooting site.

    http://repairclinic.com

Give it a try. It should help you isolate the problem quickly. They also sell hard to find parts but they are a bit pricey. Especially on shipping of small parts.

    Bert
My guess is the motor coupling (part # 285753A) it is located between the motor and transmission and acts like a belt would. I am assuming the unit is direct drive as almost all wpl products within the last ten years are. With it being a direct drive the motor has two shafts, one connects to the pump which is why the water is gone because the motor is turning the pump. However, the clothes are still wet because the coupler, which connects to the other side of the motor is broken and won't turn the transmission so it won't spin. To replace the part follow these steps.

    1. Unplug unit

    2. Tilt it up and go from the bottom

    3. Remove the two clamps on the pump which is located at the bottom front center, then push the pump over to the side after clamps are removed.

    4. Next disconnect wiring to motor and capacitor if present

    5. Remove clamps from motor, some will have a screw holding each clamp in place some won't. Just be careful to support motor when removing the upper clamp as it will fall.

    6. Pry the coupler off of the back motor shaft and transmission.

    7. Now replace coupler, you will prolly have to ';pound'; the new part on the shafts. I usually use a short socket extension and vise grips in the field. Just light taps until the coupler is even with end of motor shaft and trans shaft.

    Hope this helps
Try turning the breaker off count to 20 then turn it back on.

You also could have over loaded the washer take some stuff out and reset the washer with the breaker.
You have some good suggestions . . But, try first:

rearrange the machine's hose that is put into the drain pipe. Gravity %26amp; age sometimes 'flattens' or put a 'bend' in the hose. If there is a kink in that hose, the water will NOT drain out.

Otherwise, it could be belt or the timer or some of the other suggestions.

    Washer smells!!!!!!!!?

i keep my washer clean but sometimes when i open it the drum really smells tried running it with no clothes in but nothing helps.Washer smells!!!!!!!!?
Sometimes there is a build up of mould on the inside of the rubber if it is a front loading washing machine. Check inside the rubber and if you see black mould this will be what is causing the smell.

Clean with bleach, apply and leave to soak and clean with a washing up sponge. Then make sure after every wash that the water that collects there is removed with a sponge and kitchen paper, this will stop any further mould appearing and giving you that nasty smell.

I had this too on my machine.

    I hope this helpsWasher smells!!!!!!!!?
When a machine has finished it's cycle and is empty, there is quite a lot of water left in the ';guts';, bacteria gets into this water hence the odor. Try putting undiluted bleach in the main drum, about half a cup, this will trickle down and hopefully kill the bugs.

Don't fully close the door, leave ajar, this also helps the seals
I recently suggested this product to a person for their trash cans. I personally used it for the musty smell in my basement. It is called ODO-BAN. It has various uses depending on the ratio mixed but it above all kills bacteria. It states on the bottle that it can be used in with your laundry. It comes in a big gallon jug. Pretty darn good stuff I think. It does have a slight ucalyptus scent. I bought mine at Sam's club
Sometimes you get build up under the top of the washer...the water only goes up so high. I had to take some spray cleaner, let it set..then garden hosed the inside upper edge of the drum (inside, but above the water line).. also could be underneath it(like a spill or a dead mouse), or maybe the drive belt is getting old and burning out if it smell like somethings burning.
Try running a load of whites or rags with bleach through it every so often to kill any odor causing bacteria. When we moved into our rental the washer was all black and gross inside and smelled really bad. I scrubbed it with baking soda, and now every so often I run a load with bleach, and it stays nice and fresh.
I had this problem, it turned out to be the filter that catches all the fluff, bunged up with fluff. Cleaned it out and now all is back to normal. hope this helps.
you can buy washing macchine cleaners from th supermarket here in australia. washing soda also works.
but some lime scale remover and some dish washer cleaner this will clean and flush out any bad smell lying in the base of your washer drum if thast dosent work i think you may have a sewrage back up problem in the waste pipes .
It is not draining properly. The outlet pipe is probably set too high. See the instructions with the washing machine which specifiy a maximum height for the outlet pipe.

If the water does not drain then it sits and gets smelly!
run it with washing poweder on whole wash then leave door ajar
Keep the door open at ALL times. You could try one of the products available in supermarkets. Always dry inside the machine after use.
Run one load in the washer with only bleach on delicate cycle with hot water. After cycle is done run a soak cycle with cold water. It worked on my Maytag washer when I had the same problem.
outlet pipe needs cleaning the one that drains the water away
How old is your washer? Do you have hard water where you live and if so do you have a water softener? Also, you may want to pull out the fabric softener container and thoroughly clean it - it could be growing mildew. We had this problem in our 15-year -old washer then we bought a new one and have had no trouble for 5 years. Hope this helps!
You can buy soda crystals from supermarket for about 60p, it comes in a blue bag. Put about a quarter of the bag directly into the drum and set the machine to a hot wash, let it run the cycle empty. Do this every few months
Run a cycle with HOT bleach water NO CLOTHES Leave the lid up and the smell should go away.
Run the washer without clothes, and put bleach in the water. And try leaving the door open when not in use, so it dries out between loads.
Perhaps not all the water drains away sometimes, and goes stagnant? Only thing I can think of...
aafter your done washing leave the cover up so the machine will dry.
Slosh a good amount of bleach into machine and run empty. When not in use, leave the door ajar - that should fix it.
Make sure the waste pipe is running away and dirty water is not returning into your machine.

If that's OK then put it on boil wash with some white vinegar

    sounds strange but it works...................
soda is best but you still need to get a plumber in ,i had that problem in my last house and the clothes stunk sometimes .it is the water coming back into the machine
    could be your water
run washer with hot water and a cup of white vinegar it helps to remove the smell
try running it with baking soda
Is your washer a front-loading machine? If so I had the same problem (and, after an internet search, I found that hundreds of others did also!) It was only the towels, not the other clothing. The washer smelled as well as soon as you opened the door. :P

Let me know the brand of your machine. Ours is a Whirlpool Duet. Whirlpool gave me the instructions for this machine in particular.

She said to put the setting to 'heavy duty' which is hot water. Add 2 cups of bleach. Add the extra rinse. Repeat whole process one more time. Also, always let the door cracked open when it's not in use. Wear rubber gloves and clean the seal around the opening....you might be surprised to find some mold there, depending on how long you've had your machine.

She also told me to use hot water more, don't use fabric softeners, dryer sheets are much better. Don't let the wet wash sit too long when the cycle is complete, and, every few washings, use powder detergent. I guess it's more abrasive, and not as gooey as liquid.

    Hope this helps!

use Sun liquid laundry detergent. Can I drain my washer on my garden without damaging myself, my garden.

I use Sun liquid laundry detergent. Can I drain my washer on my garden without hurting myself, my garden, or the environment? use Sun liquid laundry detergent. Can I drain my washer on my garden without damaging myself, my garden.
This is called ';grey water'; and we have used it for years on our veggies too..I am 52 with no major illnesses..other than my back from overworked...It is totally bidegradable and they get phospherous from this... I was raised on a farm in the country..Everyone I know has done this for years..I still raise a garden and water it with it..I am on a well and septic system but all of my water from my washer goes to a drain to the garden.. use Sun liquid laundry detergent. Can I drain my washer on my garden without damaging myself, my garden.
I use Sun liquid laundry detergent also.

Although I don't drain my washer into my garden any more, I used to. I've moved and now my washer drainage is set up so that draining it like this isn't possible. I miss being able to do this!

In the past I used washer-water to water everything, including my vegetable garden. Sun doesn't have phosphorous (most detergents don't nowdays anyway), so it won't hurt the environment or your plants.

This sort of water is called ';gray'; water. You may want to look at websites that address this sort of water recycling, such as:

    http://organicgardens.suite101.com/artic鈥?/a>

There are some cautions and limitations regarding using gray water, so you'll want to educate yourself before you start.

It is perfectly fine for a flower garden but I wouldn't put it in my vegetable garden. Detergent is environment safe and will not hurt yourself. I also save my dish washing water for my flower bed and they are thriving and booming well. You are actually helping the environment by recycling water.
I'd use the water on the lawn or trees but not on plalnts that you plan to eat just to be on the safe side.
