I took advice from postings on here and tried it. One of the pillows broke open in the washer and feathers were everywhere. What a mess!DON'T wash feather pillows in your washer!?
I always wash my feather pillows in the wash on gentle. This happened to my Mom too...if the pillow looks a bit warn it should be covered with another zippered pillow protector so you have no nasty messes like this...sorry to hear what happened to you, but usually there is no problem.DON'T wash feather pillows in your washer!?
I usually zip pillows into large mesh sweater protector laundry bags to prevent stress to the pillow itself. Sorry to hear of your mishap. I think of that mess every time I see a ';pillowfight'; on tv or in a movie. Report Abuse
I'll bet the person who thought it was so cute to film it isn't the person who had to clean it up.
anyway, cheers. Report Abuse
My grandmother would wash her feather pillows in the bathtub. Filled with warm water and she used a gentle soap and would rinse well and always hung them out to dry on the line. She would them put them in the dryer on low or no heat just to fluff the feathers. I loved sleeping on her clean fluffy pillows.
sorry for your trouble. With the right machine you can do home washing.
go to http://www.ajmadison.com/ to see which machines are made for that and which are not.
happy cleaning up.
Sorry but did you use the gentle cycle? My hubby loves his feather pillow.
